Welcome to 32nd Conference on Graphics, Patterns and Images Sibgrapi 2019
Welcome to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - October 28th to 31st

MAIN TRACK

Warning: Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered. All deadlines expire at 23:59 PST.

Call for Technical Paper Contributions

Original unpublished papers are invited. All manuscripts submitted the SIBGRAPI 2019 Technical Paper Track (Main Track) must be in English and should have between six (6) and eight (8) pages, to be prepared following the SIBGRAPI format available below.

All full papers are to be double-blindly reviewed by at least three experts in the topic of the work. The final program will only include papers with at least one author registered with full registration rate for the conference. For manuscripts where at least one author is already registered at the full rate, this fulfills the obligation for up to one (1) paper (i.e., each paper must be associated with a different full registration). All papers included in the proceedings of the conference are distributed via IEEE Xplore (to be confirmed) and scheduled for oral presentation at SIBGRAPI. SIBGRAPI's proceedings are available online at IEEE Xplore (to be confirmed) and also at the SIBGRAPI Digital Library Archive maintained by the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE, Brazil).

Submission Instructions

The SIBGRAPI LaTeX style is available here:

Please follow the included instructions and the SIBGRAPI formatting guidelines, avoiding any change to the format (in particular the  \vspace command, or creating subsections or paragraphs with any command different from \subsection or \paragraph). The bibliography should be formatted with a 9pt font. Please do not change the font size, even in particular if it would helps to comply with the page limit! The illustrations of the paper should be generated either truly vectorial or rasterized with at least 300dpi.

Paper submission is handled via  the CMT system.

Anonymity Requirements

Since the review process is double-blind, authors must prepare their manuscripts without including any indication of their identities or institutional affiliations. Author's identities will be tracked only by the submission system, and visible only to the track chairs. The program committee members and referees who review the paper will not know the identity of the authors.

To ensure anonymity of authorship, authors must prepare their manuscript as follows:

  • Funding sources must not be acknowledged anywhere in the paper during review.
  • Authors' names and affiliations must not appear on the title page or elsewhere in the paper. Instead, please include under the title the id number assigned to your paper by the online paper registration system, for instance, by including the command \finalfalse in your LaTeX source.
  • Research group members or other colleagues or collaborators must not be acknowledged anywhere in the paper.
  • It is strongly suggested that the submitted file is named with the assigned submission id. For example, if your assigned paper id is 39352, name your submitted file 39352.pdf.
  • Source file naming must also be done with care. For example, if your name is Jane Smith and you submit a PDF file generated from a .dvi file called Jane-Smith.dvi, one could infer your authorship by looking into the PDF file.
  • You must also use care in referring to related past work, particularly your own. For example, avoid mention to your work as "In our previous work [1,2]...", prefer third person referencing as "In previous work [1,2]...". Despite the anonymity requirements, you should still include all relevant work of your own in the references, using the above style (omitting them could potentially reveal your identity by negation).

It is the responsibility of authors to do their best to preserve anonymity. Papers that do not follow the guidelines here, or otherwise potentially reveal the identity of the authors, are subject to immediate rejection.

Paper presentation

All accepted papers are scheduled for either oral or poster presentation, according to the schedule defined for the Main Track. The oral presentations must fit in 15 minutes, with additional 5 minutes for discussion. Slides and presentation must be in English. The posters must be in the portrait format and fit the A0 paper size (84.1 cm x 118.9 cm). The poster support has a hanger on its top that can be used to hang the poster.

No-show and No-registration policy

No-show papers are defined as accepted papers submitted by authors who subsequently did not present the paper in-person (no videos,no remote cast) at the technical meeting. No-registration papers are defined as accepted papers where at least one author did not register with full paid registration rate (Professional SBC member or Professional non member) for the conference, where each paper must be associated with a different full paid registration. No-show and no-registration papers will not be included in the program and will be removed from the proceedings and from the IEEE Xplore.

Thus, each paper must have at least two authors (one being the student's advisor). Accepted works will be presented in poster sessions

Selection criteria

The WUW program committee will evaluate the submitted works with regard to the following criteria: originality, technical quality, research contribution and presentation. While the scientific contribution of the submission may be smaller than that of the full papers track, it is expected that a WUW submission includes a complete work with methodology and results. Submissions without at least preliminary results will be rejected. Awards will be given for the three best works presented at the WUW poster session by one of the author students.

Instruction to the authors

Submissions can be written in English or Portuguese, and the text should follow the SIBGRAPI 2019 formatting guidelines for Main Track full papers, but with the following adjustments. The names of the authors should not be omitted, disregarding the requirement of anonymity of the main track. In particular, students must appear as the first authors and the advisor as the last author, with eventual co-advisors and other collaborators in between. Submissions in Portuguese should include, after the abstract in Portuguese, also an abstract in English. Papers are limited to 4 double-column pages. Papers should be submitted through the WUW CMT system.

Double-Submissions Policy

Simultaneous submissions in the main track and WUW are not allowed and will be rejected without review. Students enrolled in an undergraduate program who are first authors of papers accepted in the main track can apply to present a poster in the WUW poster session and become eligible to WUW awards. However, they are not required to submit a WUW paper. They should submit a PDF print of the letter of acceptance in the main track and the undergraduate program enrolment certificate for 2019.

Poster preparation

All posters must have A0 paper size with portrait orientation (841 mm x 1189 mm). The use of small fonts on text production is not recommended. The poster support has a hanger on its top that can be used to hang the poster. It is not necessary to include the poster in the CMT system.
