Since 1991, Dr. Lopes has been working for the industry as a consultant in a variety of projects.
For PETROBRAS he worked on reservoir modeling through the following projects, all of them under the coordination of Prof. Geovan Tavares:
1) PetBool (1992-2002): it is a software for stochastic reservoir simulation using the boolean technique.
2) GeoSis-BR (1997-2009): It deals with 3D reconstruction of geobodies from seismic data.
3) KernelSis-BR (2007-2009): It uses statistical learning techniques to assign petrophysical properties to the seismic cube.
He also worked in a project for valuation of car insurance policies for BRADESCO SEGUROS.
Finally, for BNDES, BANCO DO BRASIL, PETROBRAS and VALE, Dr. Lopes taught on-site mathematical courses.
