My academic interests have been centered around teaching mathematics-computer sciences, research in geometric modeling and computer graphics and its applications to education and the oil industry. I am the historical founder of the Matmidia Laboratory.

Industrial Projects

  • Project Petbool (acronym of Petrobras and Boolean) Sponsored by Petrobras (the Brazilian Oil Company) and Federal Government Agency for Studies and Projects (FINEP). It was designed in 1994 and effectively started in 1995. It deals with 3D visualization and object based geological modeling of oil reservoirs. From information at the wells it incorporates uncertainty components typical of the geological formation of the brazilian oil reservoirs to simulate and visualize equiprobable 3D scenarios of the oil reservoir.
  • Geosis (acronym of Geophysics e Seismic, in portuguese) Sponsored by Petrobras this project started in 1999. It deals with 3D reconstruction and visualization of oil reservoirs directly from image structured seismic data.
  • Project Poros Sponsored by Petrobras and Federal Government Agency for Studies and Projects (FINEP) this project begun in 2001 and ended in 2003. Here we built the 3D porous media under petrophysics assumptions.
  • Project Paragraf (acronym de Parallel e Graphics, in portuguese) Sponsored by Petrobras this project started in 2002. Its main objective is to build a 3D parallel numerical and visualization environment for 3D reservoir modeling.
