This year, the Mathematics Department at PUC-Rio marks its 60th anniversary. Throughout this time, the Department has emerged as a national and international benchmark in both teaching and research. To honor this significant milestone, we have organized four events that highlight the pivotal contributions that have shaped our history:

• 60th anniversary of the Department of Mathematics - Scientific Event
  Featuring participation from several esteemed mathematics researchers, with approximately 15 plenary sessions scheduled in the principal areas of mathematics research.
• 60th anniversary of the Department of Mathematics - Teaching Event
  The event will promote a gathering focused on university teaching to exchange ideas and revisit the Department's pedagogical history.
• 60th anniversary of the Department of Mathematics - Profmat Event
  Event featuring lectures by guest speakers with significant presence in the national ProfMat scene and a roundtable discussion with some ProfMat PUC alumni sharing the program's impact on their professional careers. It will be held at PUC, on a Saturday in the first semester of 2026.
• 60th anniversary of the Department of Mathematics - Olympic Event
  The event will host a gathering of the Olympic community to share ideas and revisit the historical legacy of mathematics competitions in Brazil, particularly within the history of PUC-Rio. The program will feature the third edition of the Nicolau Saldanha Challenge (Regional Mathematics Olympiad).
